The award-winning play The Vagina Monologues is based on V-Day Founder/playwright Eve Ensler’s interviews with over 200 women. With humor and grace the piece celebrates women’s sexuality and strength. Through this play and the liberation of this one word, countless women throughout the world have taken control of their bodies and their lives. For more than 12 years, The Vagina Monologues has given voice to experiences and feelings not previously exposed in public.
This year’s Ottawa community production of The Vagina Monologues is hosted by The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Ottawa (SASC) in partnership with Minwaashin Lodge Aboriginal Women’s Support Centre. We are a diverse group of women from SASC, Minwaashin and the Ottawa region, passionate about raising awareness about violence against women and raising funds to support SASC and MInwaashin’s work with women survivors violence.
Tickets start at only and the proceeds of this year’s production will go towards two local charities working to end violence against women: The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Ottawa (SASC) and Minwaashin Lodge Aboriginal Women’s Support Centre. Also, 10% will go towards the VDay 2012 spotlight campaign – Women and Girls of Haiti.
